Introduction to Outdoor Climbing at Stanage..

Stewart, James, Dan and I visited Stanage Edge today on the second of two days Introductory Climbing.

We spent the day leading and seconding routes, selecting challenging lines and building basic belays. Stewart, James and Dan took to this easily and made good progress.

The crag was busy with plenty of folk out climbing, bouldering and soloing along with plenty of paragliders ridge soaring along the edge.

Introduction to Climbing..

Stewart, James and Dan joined me today for an Introduction to Rock Climbing. We visited Burbage North, doing some bouldering and top roping as well as climbing some varied routes.

The aim will be to build on this tomorrow at another venue looking a Leading and Seconding routes and associated skills.

Following this day out, I managed a quick soloing circuit at Stanage Popular End.

Rock Climbing in North Wales..

James Edwards and I have been over in North Wales for the last week or so doing some climbing at Gogarth and in the Llanberis Pass.

Dry weather in North Wales..

I have been over in North wales for a few days with Kris Hill and James Edwards.

The weather has improved dramatically with a high pressure system building. Over the last few days we have made visits to Little Tryfan, Tremadog, Carreg Wastad, Dinas Mot and Dinas Cromlech.

Fingers crossed it will hold for a while yet..

Single Pitch Award Training..

Gary Smith and I have spent the last couple of days delivering a Single Pitch Award Training Course for Peak Mountain Training.

Saturday was spent at Stanage Edge with the emphasis on personal climbing before moving to the Climbing Works in Sheffield.

Sunday was spent at Burbage North looking at group sessions and associated rigging.

Unfortunately, on Saturday a 32 year old climber took a nasty lead fall and died from her injuries. Our thoughts are with her friends and family as well as other climbers who witnessed the event. Further details can be found on the Edale Mountain Rescue Team site.

Intro Rock in North Wales..

I have been over in North Wales for the week, working for Plas Y Brenin on an Intro Rock course.

The weather has been wet to say the least but we managed some good days climbing at Fachwen, Tremadog, Cwm Lledr, Clogwyn yr Oen, and the Indy Wall.

The forecast looks better for the weekend..
